Join the new ESG team in the Communications, Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility sector. You’ll report to the ESG Operations Lead. You will be responsible for analyzing, calculating and disclosing data on the Bank’s carbon footprint.
This new position was created to add quantitative expertise to the ESG team.
As a Senior ESG Data Analyst, you will be one of the Bank’s ESG experts and a contact for external and internal stakeholders for calculating and disclosing the carbon footprint. Your database analysis skills will allow you to build ESG metrics, calculate the carbon footprint according to the PCAF methodology and meet the Bank’s commitments
- Oversee the collection and analysis of data required to measure the carbon footprint of the Bank’s activities (loan and investment portfolio)
- Develop a process for integrating data, a carbon footprint calculation model and an environmental trend tracker for the Bank’s financing and investment activities
- Carry out quality assurance and control activities to ensure data integrity and find information to support targeted interventions and projections
- Work with various business lines to improve the collection of data used to calculate the carbon footprint and play a key role in implementing these changes
- Optimize data quality and results by searching public and private data sources and working with internal stakeholders (e.g., Risk Management and business lines) to obtain the data needed to improve our capacity to measure and manage our carbon footprint (e.g., sector and client data, environmental data on net-zero commitments)
- Work with heads of business lines to help improve the Bank’s capacity to measure carbon emissions and provide information on carbon accounting across the company
- Perform a comparative analysis of disclosures, objectives and progress on carbon footprint and net-zero commitment and produce documents to share this data
- Put in place an internal review of ESG disclosure at the major Canadian banks and industry best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Financial Engineering, Statistics or relevant experience
- At least 8-10 years of experience in data science or quantitative analysis
- Experience and knowledge of GHG quantification methods (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, PCAF)
- Proficiency in databases
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power BI
- Knowledge of SAS and/or R and/or Python and/or SQL
- Excellent communication skills and able to explain concepts in layman’s terms (English and French)
- Excellent analytical and summarizing skills
- Reputation for performing complex analyses
- Able to prioritize files and multitask
- Keen sense of initiative and agility
- Discipline, autonomy, innovation and team spirit
- Bilingualism, both spoken and written (English and French), essential
