Job DescriptionJoin a global professional services leader. We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy and urbanization.GHD is seeking a senior level Business Development Lead to join the Ontario Proposal Support Team. This role will be located in Markham, Ontario. As a Business Development Lead, you will lead capture planning, pursuits and proposals for transportation planning and design projects including highways, bridges, traffic engineering, rail, and transit.This position will provide you the opportunity to:
  • Lead the planning, development, and production of high-quality, persuasive proposals, marketing collateral and presentations in accordance with submission requirements
  • Lead and facilitate the development of pursuit strategies, win themes and story boarding
  • Support and coach the technical team in the development and maintenance of high-quality marketing materials, including individual curricula vitae and project profiles
  • In coordination with the pursuit team, establish proposal schedules, assignment matrices, compliance matrices, and proposal templates and document and distribute meeting minutes
  • Lead proposal kick-off meetings
  • Establish and monitor proposal schedules, plans, deadlines, and progress to achieve internal milestones
  • Communicate with proposal participants to track tasks against the schedule
  • Outline, write, format, and edit proposal content to make it coherent and in a united voice
  • Coordinate the development of narrative, graphics, fees, and other necessary materials from both internal staff and sub-consultants
  • Ensure proper maintenance of proposal files and associated documents
  • Lead proposal quality efforts, review proposals and presentations, and participate in reviews, as needed
  • Lead end-to-end process for proposals, including document layout and print production, as needed
  • Run multiple pursuits simultaneously, coordinating groups of content providers and manage shifting priorities
  • In coordination with the capture planning team, participate, facilitate, and support capture planning efforts for key pursuits
  • Support key client management efforts in coordination with key client engagement teams
  • Research project backgrounds, timelines, client programs, and capital budgets
  • Participate in client briefings, proposal debriefs, and lessons learned discussions as needed
  • Contribute to lessons learned through internal pursuit team, marketing support team, and external client debriefs
  • Lead efforts to monitor our submissions against industry best practices and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external teams, including partners, consultants, and sub consultants at all stages of the pursuit lifecycle, as needed
  • Assist team in development and preparation of interview materials, including slide decks, leave-behinds, question and answer preparation, team rehearsals, and technology
For success in this role, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience leading and writing high-quality technical proposals for an engineering, construction or professional services organization
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Understanding of marketing techniques (i.e. layout, graphics, strategy-to-win)
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects and tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
