Tricanna Industries Inc. is a Health Canada Licensed Processor, specializing in contract manufacturing, processing, and packaging of cannabis and cannabis products. We are seeking a committed, hard working, reliable Senior Accountant.

Our mission is to utilize the best technology and production practices available to provide full-service co-packing and processing solutions that maximize out clients’ efficiency and product turn over, while maintaining a high standard in compliance, corporate governance, and service execution.

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant will carry out all the day-to-day full cycle bookkeeping and accounting activities of the Company. Excellent personal hygiene, attention to detail, strong worth ethic with a ‘can do’ attitude, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team is mandatory.

Additional responsibilities to this role will be job posting, job reconciliation, labour posting and reconciliation, as well as processing bi-weekly payroll.

Job description

The role and responsibilities are outlined below and are not limited to the following:

· Full cycle bookkeeping, including:

o Reviewing AP entries and monitoring aging payables

o Reviewing and keeping track of inventory receipts and maintaining appropriate receiving paperwork

o Posting bank and visa transactions, and doing weekly and monthly bank and visa reconciliations

o Monthly GST, PST and WCB remittances

o Invoicing and following up on receivables for timely receipt of payments

· Preparation of month end financial statements, including:

o Posting and reconciling prepaid expenses

o Posting and reconciling monthly depreciation expense

o Reviewing and reconciling monthly accounting activity to ensure appropriate classification of expenses throughout the period

· Entering jobs into Syspro, and creating customer invoices, including:

o Posting labour hours and materials to jobs

o AR collections

· Preparation of monthly Health Canada and CRA reporting as it relates to cannabis movements and sales

· Preparation of month end inventory valuation, including:

o Involvement in the monthly inventory counts, posting physical counts and following up on discrepancies with production staff

  • Reviewing weekly inventory valuation report to ensure all inventory is accurately accounted for (no missing inventory items, and no items showing up in inventory that have already been shipped)

· Daily and bi-weekly Payroll duties, including:

  • Daily review and reconciliation of the hourly employees’ time sheets compared to their work schedules, including straight time worked and overtime hours worked
  • Monitoring employee tenure and important dates (3 month probation end dates, 1 year anniversary dates, birthdates, etc)
  • Calculation of daily time sheets and posting time worked to jobs
  • Calculation of weekly time sheets for bi-weekly payroll processing purposes
  • Processing bi-weekly payroll using Payworks (online payroll system)

· Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, including:

  • Preparing monthly sales and gross profit targets to meet and exceed profitability targets.
  • Preparing gross profit targets for break even and achievable profitability targets.
  • Suggesting ways to cut costs or increase efficiencies in controllable overhead costs, for increased profitability.
  • Preparing financial statement and budget analysis to determine if company is meeting/exceeding/falling short on monthly controllable variable costs.

Qualifications:

· Must have a minimum of 1 year bookkeeping certificate from an accredited institution.

· Preference will be given to candidates with a 2-year accounting diploma or greater.

· Must have a minimum of 2 years full cycle bookkeeping and accounting experience, working in an employment role or office setting if on contract.

· Must be proficient with Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.

· Experience working with an ERP system. Experience working with SYSPRO is an asset.

· Must be proficient with Sage, including the ability to prepare monthly and annual financial statements for related companies with little guidance.

Security Clearance:

· Criminal Record check is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to climb stairs to desk and office space.

Schedule:

· Monday – Friday, 6-8 hours per day (hours can be flexible)

· Yes - part time working from home can be arranged after 1-2 months working on site
