E-One Moli Energy (Canada) Limited is a well-equipped lithium-ion battery R&D facility located in Maple Ridge, B.C. with 80+ employees. We are proud of our 40+ years in the Vancouver area and strive to be a world leader in materials research and battery development along with working closely with colleagues at the manufacturing headquarters in Taiwan.
Our R&D Process team is growing! We are looking for a permanent, full-time Process Technician to join the team. This is an entry-level position, and we will provide all the necessary technical training for the job. You will be a part of an experienced team of technicians and engineers who really enjoy working together. THE ROLE: The team is responsible for making the battery electrodes – this involves operating equipment for powder processing, slurry mixing, coating onto foils, and compression/slit – all part of getting the product ready to send off to the battery assembly team. You need to be comfortable interacting with technicians, engineers, and scientists to troubleshoot processes. Note:The position is working on-site with all COVID-19 safety protocols in place. This is currently a day shift position although different shift start times will be required on a rotational basis.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process and quality-check large quantities of powder/chemicals.
- Operate powder sifting, slurry mixing, coating, compression and slitting equipment for the model plant production of lithium-ion battery electrodes.
- Follow equipment operating and health/safety procedures.
- Regularly complete data entry and communicate using computers (MS Office).
- Pay close attention to details, work with accuracy and report irregularities.
- Coordinate with team members to process new work requests, complete daily assigned tasks and hand over work to the next work shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area (cleaning equipment and parts, sorting and labelling, tracking and inventory control).
- Assist in troubleshooting common equipment/process problems and perform simple equipment maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary school graduate with one-year work experience is required.
- Good manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude skills (previous experience working with machinery, workshop, etc. would be considered an asset).
- Eager to learn new skills and can adapt in a rapidly changing R&D environment. Willing to assist in performing atypical, experimental tasks with experienced technicians, engineers, and scientists.
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to analytically solve problems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or in teams under minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to periodically lift 15-20 kg.
- Schedule flexibility to accommodate periodic overtime.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator, eye protection and safety shoes.
