Payroll and Benefits Technician

Job Description

Reporting to the Payroll and Group Benefits Manager and in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager, the Payroll and Benefits Technicianwill be responsible for ensuring payroll processing of a dedicated employee group as well as the processing and follow-up of benefits and programs used for all employees, in accordance with Guillevin’s practices as well as with provincial regulations. Also responsible for supporting managers in using Workday modules and offering a superior employee experience.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full payroll cycle: from validation of employment conditions, to validation of time entries and leaves, payroll processing, adjustments, ROE and remittances;

  • Bi-weekly payroll using Workday (1800 employees in total across Canada, 1 collective agreement);

  • Answer questions from employees in a timely manner and support managers;

  • Produces various reports;

  • Document and/or develop internal procedures or validation tools related to payroll processing;

  • Provide answers to employees, re: benefits and savings plans, including short-term and long-term disability claims;

  • Ensure calculation and follow up on work accident files;

  • Answer various questions from external agencies;

  • Participate in payroll reconcilation process and year-end activities (T4/R1);

  • Participate in payroll related projects or initiatives;

  • All other related tasks.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in payroll or accounting;

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in payroll and group benefits administration;

  • Knowledge of Workday an important asset;

  • Excellent knowledge of English and French written and spoken;

  • Good organizational skills;

  • Ability to work under pressure while keeping an attention to details;

  • Able to take initiative;

  • Canadian Payroll Association Certification an asset.
