In-Scope

Remote Work – This role is eligible for remote/hybrid work in Saskatchewan & Manitoba. All candidates will be expected to meet the working from home requirements and sign a remote work agreement if selected for the role.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The Network Administrator is responsible for supporting, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading networks for organization-wide use (i.e., cloud and on-premise systems, devices, and components). The role works closely with the Senior Network Administrator to ensure the network environment is operational and secure. Participates in standby rotation and/or callback incidents as assigned.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implements network policies and procedures .
  • Executes the installation, configuration, and testing of network-related equipment .
  • Maintains/upgrades network(s): developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements, following change management procedures.
  • Administers routers, switches, and firewalls, including security updates and patches.
  • Performs network administrative tasks for security and compliance activities.
  • Manages network and network performance, including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.
  • Performs monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshoots network problems; and escalates problems as needed.
  • Troubleshoots on-premise and cloud network problems; escalates problems to vendor as required.
  • Resolves incidents/problems detected through monitoring or escalated by Service Desk/end users.
  • Writes and maintains automation scripts for system maintenance and administration.
  • Provides network triage reports for executive and business owners.
  • Provides network documentation to Developers and project teams.
  • Provides recommendations for network configurations and solutions to Application/Solution Architect(s). Generates network performance reports to application teams, Developers, business owners, and executives.
  • Creates and updates operational documentation and runbooks.
  • Generates patch management activities.

Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Knowledge of configuration, installation, and maintenance of networks.
  • Knowledge of a range of networking systems, including load balancers, remote access technologies, routers, and switches.
  • Knowledge of security-related technologies and network monitoring platforms.
  • Knowledge of IT life cycle management processes.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study, such as Information Technology, or defined equivalency.

Experience
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience maintaining and administering network services in a complex, geographically diverse communications infrastructure environment.

Pay Range:$64,044.00 - $80,832.00
