Mechanical Engineer, Corporate Head Office, Halifax, NS

Killam is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer, to join its growing Operations team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Halifax, NS. The successful candidate will report to the VP, Operations.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Oversee building asset management infrastructure
  • Responsible for boiler/HVAC efficiency, maintenance, and end of life replacement
  • Manage energy modeling and future HVAC strategies
  • Manage energy conservation and carbon mitigation strategy

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in a related discipline (building system, engineering) or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of experience as Mechanical Engineer designing, installing, or operating building HVAC systems
  • Experienced with the operations of multiple system varying and operation IE geothermal, oil/gas and VRF
  • Strong interest in the implementation and trouble shooting of new building technology, energy savings and control systems
  • Proven experience in operations, construction, or maintenance preferably in property and/or facilities management with project management skills
  • Experience in financial reporting and management of budgets with excellent computer skills including Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and remote monitoring would be an asset
  • Good communication skills within a corporate environment along within the field and strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment
