LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Full-Time - 1 year contract
For Our Food Residue Department

As aLABORATORY TECHNICIAN , your main responsibilities are:
- Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when performing sample extraction and clean-up to ensure quality data is provided to the client
- Identify any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling
- Ensure priority samples are included in workload in order to meet TAT specifications required by the client
- Identify and communicate procedural non-conformances to Supervisor
- Participate, when requested, in method troubleshooting and non-conformance investigations
- Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabelling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials
- Accurately prepare all reagents and standards required for the methodology
- Provide general lab support
- Provide supervisor/manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays
- Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
- Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
- Participate, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings
- Participate, when requested in internal and external audits
- Maintain training records and relevant qualifications
- All other responsibilities as assigned
- Post-Secondary school education, preferably in sciences, or equivalent experience
- Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
- Detail oriented with accurate record keeping skills
- Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
- Strong computer skills
- Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Adapts to a changing environment
- Works both independently and as part of a team
- Learns quickly
- The job incumbent must be available for shift work, working on weekends and overtime
