Job DescriptionJoin a global professional services leader. We are committed to solving the world’s biggest challenges in the areas of water, energy and urbanization.GHD is looking for a Junior Environmental Engineer to join our St. Catharines office. The environmental engineering team in St. Catharines supports brownfield redevelopment projects, completes environmental assessments, completes environmental compliance assessments, provides environmental and engineering services to many industrial and private sector clients, and develops and manages long-term operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) of remedial systems and risk management measures.The successful candidate will:
  • Assist in the preparation of project related technical documents including proposals, environmental reports, technical specifications, and drawings for review.
  • Field work and oversight associated with environmental investigations, OM&M sites, and remediation activities will be required, and will include drilling oversight, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, investigative/remedial excavation oversight, vapour sampling, etc.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • New or recent graduate of a relevant Bachelors of Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Applied Science, or equivalent program
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in the environmental engineering field
  • Willingness to travel to undertake fieldwork is required (field demands can include working long hours, working in inclement weather conditions, and working in remote locations)
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
  • Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license (a MVR check will be performed prior to hire
  • Must live in Niagara Region to attend St. Catharines office as needed for project related work and mentoring.
