About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Building and Asset Planning, as the Geographic Information System (GIS) Programmer/Analyst, you will develop, support and maintain applications to support NSPHA executive and management in planning initiatives.

Responsibilities

Primary Accountabilities

You will work in collaboration with other IT and NSPHA staff to develop innovative, effective, and efficient tools and processes to collect, maintain and provide access to information pertaining to the Public Housing inventory. Through the design, administration, and support of GIS initiatives, you will be a valued and integral part of the team working towards improving infrastructure and asset management practices as well as client service delivery within the NSPHA.

Duties
  • Creating and editing GIS feature classes and geodatabases within an ArcGIS environment.
  • Providing quality control on GIS feature classes and geodatabases.
  • Assisting with the cartographic editing of maps and other data.
  • Assisting with the creation of GIS digital products, map services and associated metadata for products being released for internal use.
  • Assisting with the support and maintenance of the Nova Scotia Public Housing Viewer web application.
  • Developing GUIs, tools and applications using Python within an ArcGIS environment
Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience
  • Graduation from an approved GIS technical school in the field of GIS
  • Experience or training in ArcGIS PRO, AGOL, Portal and other products in the ESRI suite
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Project planning experience and experience documenting and communicating results, procedures and program codes.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and clients effectively and respectfully
Assets
  • Experience with the ArcGIS suite of software, in particular, experience with the automation of customized reports or layouts;
  • Courses in Python and experience developing GUIs, geoprocessing tools and applications within ArcGIS using Python;
  • Demonstrated experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS suite of products especially in the following: using Python or other programming languages to create and edit GIS feature classes and modelling spatial relationships;
  • Experience with research methodologies, data collection and analysis;
  • Experience with the Nova Scotia Civic Address Layer and the Open Data Portal.
Competencies required at this level of work are High Level of Accuracy, Strong Communication Skills, Time Management, Project Planning, and Collaboration.

Salary Range: $40,303.96 - $48,880.10 yearly

Work Week: 35 hours
