About The Opportunity:

You will assist the Bylaw Services Division in ensuring compliance with Municipal Bylaws and ensuring the City of Prince George is a safe and livable community for all residents and visitors. As part of the team assigned to the downtown core, your main focus will be to proactively respond to concerns related to public safety and cleanliness and to ensure the security of City facilities and parkades. The work also involves receiving and investigating bylaw complaints, communicating and educating others on bylaw requirements and taking action to achieve compliance when violations have occurred.


About Your Background:

Along with Grade 12, you have completed the Bylaw Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program, Level 1, through the Justice Institute of BC and have formal training in conflict resolution techniques and customer service. You have a minimum of one year of experience dealing with the public interpreting policies, rules and regulations and applying them to gain compliance. You also have previous face-to-face experience dealing with hostile situations and individuals along with keen listening and observation skills. Demonstrated ability to deal compassionately with marginalized persons and individuals with mental health and addiction issues as well as knowledge of the community support services available to these individuals will serve you well in this dynamic role. A Police Information Check for offences related to the position is also required.
