Visual Merchandising Team Lead

Reports to Visual Merchandising Manager

Job Purpose Statement

Maximize company sales growth and profitability by supporting the visual merchandising manager in executing the visual merchandising plan and in delivering an engaging experience to every customer, every time.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Leadership

Assist and support the visual merchandising manager with the execution of the seasonal and weekly floor plan changes for the store.

Support the visual merchandising manager to lead the merchandising team and manage coverage appropriately reallocating efforts as needed to support store priorities, as determined by the visual merchandising manager.

Coach merchandising associates on compliance and adherence to consistent company processes.

Lead by example and maintain a sense of professionalism at all times.

Provide specific and timely feedback about performance directly to associates and share observations with the visual merchandising manager.

Assist the visual merchandising manager in training and developing merchandising associates on visual merchandising, product knowledge, and customer service.

Guide and oversee adherence to consistent processes and safety standards to ensure the effective workflow of the merchandising team.

Support all efforts and initiatives across all business channels implemented by the company.

Support the company’s mission and goals, including applicable key performance indicators (KPIs).

Job Knowledge

Possess and demonstrate company standards in selling, customer service, visual merchandising and teamwork.

Support the visual merchandising manager to execute and maintain the visual merchandising standards of the sales floor and to ensure product and displays are stocked appropriately.

Execute the store’s seasonal and weekly floor plans, under the direction of the visual merchandising manager.

Participate in the planning and execution of the store window displays.

Assist the visual merchandising manager with ensuring all product is signed correctly.

Develop display and merchandising skills by working closely with the visual merchandising manager.

Maintain all store displays and uprights/shelves.

Assist with assigned inventory responsibilities, as needed.

In coordination with the sales manager(s) and department lead(s), manage the closing efforts of the store.

Ensure full understanding and awareness of all current product and product information.

Maintain awareness of all intranet communications, current advertising, promotions and other marketing initiatives, and communicate all pertinent information to store associates.

Possess a complete understanding of applicable company systems, policies and procedures.

Maintain an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety following the guidelines provided by management or the Human Resources Department and/or as outlined in the Crate and Barrel/CB2 Associate Guide.

Focus on promoting sales as they pertain to, or are driven by your position.

Provide feedback, share observations, assessments, and ongoing solutions with the merchandising manager and general manager.

Communication

Communicate regularly with the visual merchandising manager to review the merchandising plan and schedule.

Communicate effectively and efficiently with all company associates and business contacts.

Teamwork

Actively participate in merchandising team meetings, store meetings and training sessions.

Actively participate in the merchandising walk-throughs.

Provide support to the merchandising team during floor moves, seasonal product changes and shifting priorities.

Support the sales team by assisting on the sales floor when necessary.

Promote a strong sense of teamwork by working together safely, effectively, respectfully and efficiently with all associates.

Customer Service (Internal and External)

Meet customer expectations by making reasonable timely decisions.

Support and model excellent service by exhibiting a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward the job and the company to both internal and external customers in all forms of communication.

Ensure all customers are provided gracious, quick and efficient service.

Technical Proficiency

Maintain awareness and demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of computers, systems and programs relevant to the position.

Possess a complete understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position.

Participate in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position.

Qualification Requirements

Knowledge

Good reading and written language skills (English), strong communication skills, basic arithmetic, interpersonal skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, good presentation skills, project management skills, telephone presence, data entry skills

Previous Experience

Previous customer service or retail experience; previous retail visual merchandising experience preferred; management experience preferred

Certifications and/or Degrees

High school diploma/GED or equivalent

Physical and Visual Activities**

On a daily basis, must be able to alternate between moving around for long periods and remaining stationary for long periods depending on the day and task at issue. Must be able to constantly handle product, communicate and have visual acuity near and far. Ability to frequently operate computers/POS/office equipment, move product, push/pull, reach for product, ascend/descend, bend and/or twist. May occasionally sit, crouch and/or balance.

Physical Demands**

Movement of product, supplies and/or boxes to and from all levels of the store and stockroom. Ability to move and/or lift up to 65 lbs; heavier product with team assist.
