Reporting to the Manager, AEY, this position is responsible for overseeing and providing direction to construction planning, resources, tendering, contracting and contractor management. The Construction Supervisor is a key member of the management team and leads AEY’s construction department. They ensure projects constructed are fit for purpose and constructed on schedule and within budget, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

What You Get To Do:
- Supervise and direct AEY’s Power Line Technicians and apprentices engaged in Construction activities.
- Set and review target in-service-dates (ISD’s) with Project Leads to ensure resources are available.
- Ensure construction close-out packages are completed and review variances with Project Leads.
- Oversee and direct power line and civil contractors engaged in utility work.
- Ensure contracts are in place for firm, hourly and unit rate work for both capital and maintenance projects.
- Assist Team Leads in contractor incident reporting and investigations and ensure communication of incident findings and entering of reports in Intelex.
- Overall responsibility for Materials Management including; oversee all warehouse activities, ensure storage yards are properly utilized and provide direction to Stockkeeper.
- Provide visible leadership to ensure compliance with the corporate policies and best practices related to Health, Safety and Environment.
- Act as a champion to develop a "safety first" culture in ATCO Electric Yukon. Lead by example through personal demonstration of HS&E best practices on a daily basis.
- Develops measurable objectives and assess performance of individuals with semi-annual reviews against the objectives and provides coaching to employees to help them achieve their objectives.
- Jointly develops training and development plans for staff including possibilities of future succession.
- Provides input to the development of the Capital and ES&G budget requirements for the annual business plan process.
- Manages, monitors and controls the costs and expenditures relative the approved budget to ensure financial targets are met and variances are recorded with explanations.


Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer or Technologist Diploma or a Journeyman Power Line Technician Certification is required.
- A minimum 5 - 7 years of utility experience.
- Valid class 5 Drivers license.
- Proven leadership/supervisory abilities.
- Superior knowledge of contract law, contracting and documentation.
- Technical knowledge of electrical, civil and mechanical construction methods and terminology.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, prints and specifications.
- Proficient in computer use and software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Oracle.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, verbal and written communications skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive and ability to multi-task.
- Superior organizational skills.
