About us:
The Chestnut Residence and Conference Centre is a University of Toronto operated facility located in the heart of downtown Toronto, offering residence, summer residence, convention and banquet services.
Your opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Building Operations, the incumbent is responsible for supervising the Building Operations and Services department and performing administrative and mechanical duties as required. The incumbent instructs Building Operations workers to use safe, efficient and effective methods and procedures, keeps records and prepares written reports, time sheets and requisitions and adjusts work schedules to compensate for staff shortages.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting routine building inspections- Identifying and reporting facility repair and/or maintenance needs
- Identifying and resolving minor building security issues
- Troubleshooting and resolving routine maintenance requests
- Liaising between clients and Facilities
- Resolving minor complaints within the scope of the role and referring larger issues when appropriate
- Updating and maintaining service records
Essential Qualifications:
College Diploma, two (2 years), or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.- Minimum three (3) years experience in building management/facilities/maintenance, a working knowledge of custodial, maintenance, safety and security practices; customer service in a diverse residential setting.
- Strong knowledge of building systems (heating, electrical, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict, exercise independent decision making, effective problem solving.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Sets priorities while balancing competing demands.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite; various web browsers; Microsoft Outlook; Adobe PDF.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:USW Pay Band 08 - $55,400 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $70,847. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
