Position Highlights

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Substance Use Clinicianto join our Substance Use Service Access Team and provide services in the Fraser North community located in Surrey, B.C.In this role, you may be required to work at more than one location and/or on an outreach basis in order to assess and/or engage with clients within their own environment and community.

Build on your education and career experience as you:

  • Support engagement, care coordination and system navigation across substance use and mental health services, local service areas, and regional and provincial services, with an emphasis on reducing barriers to enter/re-enter the system of care and facilitating timely treatment and rapid re-engagement of clients where appropriate and feasible.
  • Provide client and family-centered care through a trauma-informed approach and evidence-informed practice to individuals and families with and affected by serious and persistent mental disorders and alcohol and drug addictions.
  • Provide initial screening, client assessment, treatment recommendations and plans, determine referral needs, provide case management and follow-up support, and provide therapy including group therapy.
  • Liaise regarding complex situations, provide group education, liaison with community resources for specialized services, and counsel clients, maintaining respect for client dignity and maximum client self-determination and independence in provision of services.
  • Participate in local committees and internal and external case conferences, and develop and deliver in-services, presentations and training to clients, families and caregivers.
  • Participate in the development of standardized documents, procedures and process, and contribute to the collation of data analytics.
  • Participate in process improvement activities, and follow clinical and customer best practices.

To join our team, we are looking for you to have:

  • Master’s Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program such as Counselling Psychology or Social Work.
  • Two (2) years’ recent related experience working with clients and families with, or affected by, mental illness and substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible for registration with relevant/applicable professional association.
  • Valid B.C. Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
