Osprey Organics is an existing 3,500-acre farming operation located in beautiful Grey County, Ontario. We are committed to producing the highest quality organic crops for our community and retail partners using methods that are regenerative and in tune with natural processes. Osprey Organics also owns and operates a mill in Gibraltar Ontario to further process organic crops grown on the lands.

As a member of our team, your primary responsibilities are to:
  • Provide agronomic support in all aspects of crop production and storage including soil preparation, seed management, planting, fertility management, pests and disease.
  • Management harvest and storage.
  • Support the deployment of novel fertility, crop protection and novel agronomic to improve crop and soil health and monitor their impact on farm sustainability and economic indicators.
  • Determine the impacts of regenerative practices on soil and provide deeper insights to make management decisions. Uncover how cropping systems and management practices can improve soil productivity and functionality.
  • Quantify the impact of various regenerative agricultural practices including livestock integration on soil health and its impact on soil carbon, water, nutrients cycles and on soil borne pests and diseases.
  • Share actionable insights regarding regenerative practices and innovative solution through the continued research of the latest farming methods for controlling disease, weeds, and insects and provide recommendations.
  • Develop 5-year crop rotation plan to support long term operations.
  • Determine and research different methods of pulling carbon from the atmosphere and storing it as carbon/ plant food in the soil.
  • Other duties as assigned.
You’ll be a great match if you have these skills; experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Agriculture.
  • Member of Canadian Society of Agronomy (CSA) - preferred.
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) an asset.
  • Knowledge of agronomic principles and conservation/regenerative agriculture practices.
  • Ability to prioritize work under ad hoc requests/critical deadlines and timely completion of projects.
  • Passionate about the environment Communicate with the research community to learn of the latest methods for controlling disease, weeds, and insects.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in farming or in the agricultural industry with specialization in crop management.
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, change management and training others.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders using influence and authority.
  • An individual who demonstrates leadership skills and has the desire to contribute and grow within Ice River Sustainable Solutions.
