When individuals in our community experience an urgent mental health or addictions crisis, they deserve a response that is person-centered and supportive, while focusing on personal dignity and wellbeing.Our Mobile Crisis Response Team, responds directly with patrol officers to provide a therapeutic response for individuals requiring crisis intervention and to support community-based alternatives to medical intervention.Just a 30-minutes from East London, this position is located in Woodstock, ON, where you will work in a dedicated capacity with the Ontario Provincial Police’s Oxford County Detachment and the Woodstock Police Services.Consider revitalizing your career and making a difference in your community by joining our team!Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) completed within the last six months.   • What you’ll be making - $31.74 per hour with applicable evening and weekend shift premiums
  • When you’ll work - 80 hours over a two week period, rotating schedule of days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
  • What your benefits will be – You will receive 9% in lieu of benefits
  • Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
  • PSLRTA Notice - This posting characterizes this position as currently unionized under the Oxford Collective Agreement. However, please be aware that the organization on September 29, 2022, a vote was held as a result of an application by the Organization under the Public Sector Labour Relations Transition Act. The result was that employees voted to award OPSEU bargaining rights for all employees. Until such time as a new collective agreement is finalized, current terms and conditions of employment and existing, applicable collective agreements, if any, will remain in force and effect.
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Establish a working and supportive relationship with the consumer
  • Assess clients’ mental, physical and emotional functional abilities and needs and investigates consumer’s present resources through complete psycho-social history and domains collections, and collateral information
  • Provide client assessment, intervention, and counselling via telephone and face-to-face
  • Teach, using a variety of approaches, life skills and adaptive techniques which will enable individuals to more effectively function on a day-to-day basis
  • Act as a resource to other service providers in the Oxford County area
  • Provide crisis follow-up to ensure appropriate linkages are made to services and supports
  • Ongoing professional skill development/continuing education towards the delivery of mental health and addiction services
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY:Vaccination RequirementsCMHA Thames Valley Addiction & Mental Health Services requires that all staff members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the rare exemption of those individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to approved exemptions (medical reasons or religious grounds as recognized in the Ontario Human Rights Code).   • RPN, RN, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required
  • Currently registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the College of Nurses of Ontario, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of Recovery principles
  • Knowledge of community services in Oxford County
  • Ability to develop short-term treatment plans in conjunction with the individual
  • Ability to advocate for and coordinate service access with clients
  • Crisis Management/Intervention Skills
  • Knowledge of Narrative Practices in Single session therapy
  • Knowledge of the Recovery model
  • Knowledge of attributes of serious mental illness and pharmaceuticals used in the treatment of mental illness
  • Knowledge of Legal system
  • Experience working with individuals with an ABI or Development Disability
  • Treatment of Addictions
  • First Aid & CPR
