For over twenty-five years our client has been a full service, award-winning, Tier I and 2 automotive OEM structural components and modular assembly supplier. Their focus has been on waste elimination and light-weighting initiatives. From prototypes to full volume products to end of life service parts.

They are looking to add a new role within the organization, a Production Manager. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible to coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the Production, Shipping, and Supporting Departments at the designated Plant location, by performing and/or delegating the duties and responsibilities of the position. Liaison between the Production Supervisor and Plant Manager with the primary focus on coaching, overseeing Lean Manufacturing processes as outlined in the Core Operating Principals.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Safety - Monitor and enforce all company safety protocols
  • Quality - Ensure the corporate quality system is adhered to in all aspects
  • Delivery - Ensure all production related schedules are followed for on time delivery to customers, and OEE expectations are met and sustained
  • Production - Responsible for ensuring production processes are followed per TWI, Die Ste, etc. and production areas meet rate (OEE) and 5S expectations
  • Provide direction and support to Production Supervisor
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of continuous improvement of procedures
  • Identify training needs, provide training, implement training, and document this training (utilize “Team Support”, MOS Review, formal training through Human Resources using the Skill Matrix)
  • Observe and assist in the evaluation of employee performance to ensure compliance with standards. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings to discuss safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Corrective Action and Lean Processes
  • Develop high performance objectives for Supervisors, communicate measure and monitor individual objectives and coach team to drive performance improvements
  • Jointly establish with Plant Manager, measure and exceed the metrics and measures for operations performance
  • Lead Kaizen activities and encourage team members to participate, measure effectiveness and lessons learned
  • Establish consistent and clear communication via Team Meetings/Plant (Shift) Meetings to ensure all urgent matters are communicated to the Plant Manager and other departments as required
  • Possess good program management skills
  • Acts as a Production Supervisor as required
  • Attend daily meetings as required
  • Assist in the development or revision of work practises through the TWI and Die Set
  • 5S and assist in Kaizen activities
  • Utilize Lean Principals to continually improve processes and effectively champion plant Corrective Action process
  • Support the correction of non-conformances on check sheets
  • Ensure Production Systems are adhered to i.e., Dispatch list, PRP, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required

Education/Training
  • Minimum Education/Training Required
  • Grade 12, GED, or equivalent
  • 2 - 5 years experience
  • Computer efficiency skills in all required areas
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent certificate
  • Computer literacy - Moderate level of proficiency with standard email, spreadsheet and word processing software (Outlook, Excel, Word); and Plex
