JOB SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Manager of Venues

This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the Moncton Market operations which includes recruiting new vendors, regulating the vendor mix, collecting vendor fees, issuing receipts, depositing monies collected, ensuring all vendors are in good financial standing with the City, and maintaining Market Management Software with up-to-date information for all vendors.

Responsible for liaising with the Moncton Market Committee, the promotion of the Market, creation of/partnering with special events, Market Day activities and other events within the Market.

This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the Moncton Market and provides guidance to custodial staff on workload and schedule of work required.

City of Moncton Salary and Wage Scale

EDUCATION:

  • High School graduate or equivalency.
  • Graduation from a recognized Community College or University with a degree or diploma in business or marketing would be an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum of (2) two years’ experience in business management preferably in food services, retail, or business development.

LANGUAGE:

  • English essential.
  • The ability to communicate in the French language is an asset, but not a requirement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be knowledge and be compliant with the New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Acts and regulations.
  • Must understand food safety and regulatory requirements for food vendors.
  • Must have knowledge and experience to solve problems using appropriate discretion and judgement.
  • Must possess knowledge of Market facility infrastructure and vendor needs with respect to general market activities including, but not limited to, vendor set-up, special events, and seasonal promotions.
  • Must possess good communication skills and characteristics that reflect the unique spirit of the Market community.
  • Must be able to work with a high level of attention to detail and scheduled work processes, with periods of work that are time sensitive with respect to accomplishing goals.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Must possess good communication skills and characteristics that reflect the unique spirit of the Market community.
  • Must be a self-starter and highly motivated person working with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work with a high level of attention to detail and scheduled work processes, with periods of work that is time sensitive with respect to accomplishing goals.

CONTACT:

  • Work requires frequent contact with the general public, Market vendors, internal stakeholders in various departments of the City, outside contractors and other Market stakeholders

SUPERVISION:

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, while making decisions related to the position with tact and diplomacy.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

  • This position requires mandatory weekend work throughout the year and other work required throughout the week to prepare for Market days and special events.
  • The base workweek for this position is 35 hours.
