Carter Forest Products is hiring a Lumber Trader to become part of our fast-growing Sales Team in Calgary, AB starting in Spring 2024. Come get involved with one of the most exciting and dynamic commodity markets in North America!

Who are we looking for?

Carter Forest Products is searching for an ambitious, entrepreneurial individual interested in an opportunity to assume significant responsibility for business growth. Compensation is comprised of salary and commission with high earning potential and no cap on commissions. Training is provided and new graduates or those without experience are encouraged to apply.

How much can you earn?

Salary starts from $50,000- $65,000 depending on level of experience. Commission income can regularly exceed $100,000 within 12-24 months for high performers.

Trader Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a sales pipeline that will support on-going achievement of sales targets
• Focus on new business development through lead generation and prospecting
• Analysis of market trends, serving as a resource to both customers and co-workers
• Accurately establish sales and purchase pricing while negotiating contracts with counter parties.
• Managing daily shipping activities, coordinating pick-ups and deliveries, and selecting suitable transportation partners for each shipment to ensure best value and timely delivery

Qualifications and Performance Motivators

• Post-Secondary Education in business or related field and/or equivalent experience .
• 2+ prior sales experience is an asset but not required to be considered
• Seeks a goal oriented role where there is a requirement to personally and positively influence prospects’ and clients’ decisions, actions and priorities for products and services.
• This individual is comfortable and motivated by personal accountability that has specific performance measurements and by rewards for achieving sales objectives and results
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain professionalism.
