POSITION SUMMARY:

The HR business partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues. The successful HRBP will act as a performance champion and change agent building partnerships across operations to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP is responsible for maintaining a high level of acumen about our markets, talent pools, organizational and Divisional KPIs, organizational values, culture and strategy. Preference will be given to those candidates living in and around Acheson, AB.

LOCATION: 25963 - 111 Ave, Acheson, AB T7X 6C8

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Build strong relationships with management throughout the enterprise to fully understand their needs and support operational performance
  • Support development and implementation of talent plans and specific initiatives focused on workforce planning and recruitment, talent management and succession planning
  • Employ the concepts of Values Based Leadership, Insights Discovery communication preferences, and a continuous coaching framework to enable human and organizational performance
  • Provide support and training to managers and employees on employment legislation, internal tools and technology to support performance, and talent best practices
  • Support leadership on expectations setting, implementing accountability frameworks, and managing employee performance concerns
  • Lead change by partnering with leaders on planning, implementing and communicating organizational changes
  • Advise business leaders on internal compensation framework and provide recent relevant market data and insights for compensation decision making
  • May participate in phase gate presentations and pre-construction planning
  • Maintain a high level of HR and industry knowledge in order to recognize efficiencies throughout the organization and remain compliant with relevant legislation.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition Specialist to develop talent strategies, programs and initiatives that support the overall strategic direction and goals of MasTec Canada
  • Lead special projects in relation to organizational goals and strategies as needed

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and 5-8 years related experience
  • CPHR designation required, or actively working towards certification
  • Experience with immigration matters such as LMIA, Work Permits, Visa’s is an asset
  • Experience with Labour Relations / collective bargaining agreements is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience supporting corporate and field-based business units is a must
  • Strong coaching mindset change management and business acumen required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises
