Facilities Services and Operations – Co-op

Work Term: January 03, 2022 toApril 22, 2022.


AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:


Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will assist with the implementation of special projects such as Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Computerized Asset Management System (CAMS) and Centralized Maintenance and support key business initiatives for Facilities Operations and Maintenance (FOM). Assist with projects from its inception to execution while translating corporate initiatives into project plans, continuous and effective research, collaborating with stakeholders and providing their recommendations. The students will assist and support project management efforts by working with Facilities Services & Operations (FSO) Manager and Supervisors.

  • Provide insights and ideas on, as well as design and participate in, Public Works and Engineering project working groups.
  • Participate in meetings, working groups and teams, as a FOM representative, in the development and implementation of projects for the department while ensuring projects achieve the corporate objectives.
  • Perform qualitative and/or quantitative research, analysis and evaluation of data to assist with synthesizing information, producing reports and/or identifying trends (e.g. develop summaries, options, recommendations, etc.).
  • Identify and facilitate resolution of issues related to project development, progress and implementation. Analyze and present status to senior leaders.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships for project implementation and success outcomes.
  • Provide administrative and consultative support to corporate committees.
  • Provide project support in developing process maps for FSO.
  • Assist in data gathering for developing facilities asset database and setting up equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with leading and managing all aspects of assigned project’s performance full life cycle from inception and business case to deployment and post-implementation review to meet project management methodology and corporate service standards.
  • Assist with the development of project outlines, descriptions and implementation plans to support departmental initiatives.
    Provide project support to corporate project leads and project sponsors to ensure corporate effectiveness is achieved.
  • Research best practices and develop project plan for identified projects to ensure milestones and targets are achieved.
  • Prepares reports and updates to senior management.
  • Coordinate with people leaders and assist in writing standard operating procedures and work instructions for staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Student must be enrolled in any University or College Co-Op, Engineering program (Electrical / Mechanical / Engineering, Environmental / Management Studies). Proof of enrollment letter will be requested prior to job offer.
  • A police criminal check will be required (to be paid for by the student).
  • Student must currently be enrolled in
  • Political and business acumen
  • Strong organizational skills; detail oriented, well organized and able to prioritize complex tasks and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong report & technical writing, data analysis and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced spreadsheet skills (functions, macros, etc.)
  • Able to exercise discretion and tact in sensitive and confidential situations
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Good performance and work record
**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.

Hourly rate: Year1 $16.74
Year 2 $18.45
Year 3 $20.18
Year 4 $22.20
