EllisDon carved out a new national construction group in 2021 with a focus on the construction of technical buildings such as Laboratories, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facilities and Data Centers. We have completed over $2.5B in Data Centre projects and $16B in Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical buildings, we are strategically focused on the increased activity in these technical buildings post pandemic. Within a year of inception, we have a successful backlog of over $500M and have secured projects across Canada.

This is an incredible opportunity to be the Estimating Manager for this new national construction group at EllisDon.

You as an Estimating Manager, Life Sciences & Technology:

• You will be responsible for all estimating functions related to the Life Sciences and Technology group at EllisDon. This will involve pre-construction estimate preparation, budget and guaranteed maximum price submissions as well as design build and stipulated price estimate submissions.
• You will work closely with our mechanical and electrical estimating team as well as our operations, pre-construction, and engineering teams to prepare accurate conceptual estimates.
• You will build and develop cost metrics for all technical building types.
• You will work closely with the SVP / Area Manager for the Life Sciences and Technology group to successfully manage risk and EllisDon’s growth strategy for this group.
• Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan and coordinate and supervise large projects.
• Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.

Is this the right role for you?

• Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Advanced management or technical training preferred.
• 15 plus years’ of experience in similar technical facility (data centers pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratories; center) estimating and related functions plus thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts required.
• Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills essential.
