Secure Energy is seeking an experienced, safety-minded Sulphur Equipment Operator. The ideal candidate will be experienced in operating Excavators, Loaders, and previous Sulphur Operational work is preferred. Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe and effective operation of equipment in completion of projects across Alberta with a focus on recycling projects in Fort McMurray.
The successful candidate must have the ability to pass a drug and alcohol test. The use of cannabis is prohibited, as this is a safety-sensitive workplace. SECURE is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all our employees.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- The safe and effective operation of heavy equipment including Excavators and Loaders
- Responsible for handling, moving, and disposing of metal/scrap material throughout the scrapyard
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment including Excavator, Scrap Handler, Front End Loader, Rock Truck
- Operate various attachments as assigned (e.g., Grapple, Magnet etc.)
- Load and sort scrap metal as directed
- Perform preventative maintenance, and daily operation checks
- Execute a variety of projects to the specifications of the customer, under the guidance of the site supervisor and project manager
- Effectively collaborates with crew and customer to ensure mutually agreeable outcomes and resolve any potential conflicts
- Acts independently with minimal supervision
- Perform general labourer tasks as required
- Safely Work and/or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
- Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol
Qualifications and Education Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Direct experience dealing with Sulphur operations as asset
- 3 years or 5,000 hours in Heavy Equipment Operation (Excavator, Dozer, Rock Truck etc.)
- Previous experience handling, moving, and disposing of Sulphur material in a safe manner
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent) with a clean driving record
- Valid Safety Tickets (H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Ground Disturbance)
- Grade 12 or GED
- Intermediate computer skills to successfully utilize intranet resources, complete online safety orientation, and HR onboarding tasks
- Physically fit, must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and able to work on feet for long periods of time
- Can work well as a team member or independently with little direction
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test. The use of cannabis is prohibited, as this is a safety-sensitive workplace
Note: Flights from Calgary or Edmonton available to site
