Job Summary:
Reporting to the Program Supervisor within a collaborative team environment coordinates immediate support, using a trauma-informed lens, to individuals and families who have been victimized by crime and/or sudden tragedies.

Service Delivery:
Ensures effective and timely service response to victim’s needs:

  • Provision of emotional support and crisis intervention services
  • Ensure victims are provided with information/support/assistance to meet their needs
  • Manage/coordinate a high volume of calls for service
  • Ensures victims are provided with referrals to services for further support as appropriate and linking victims as needed
  • Liaise with other professionals and advocate on behalf of victims as needed
  • Update and maintain the case management database ensuring information is complete and accurate
  • Ensure confidentiality of victim information
  • Work with victims from diverse backgrounds
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift Coordination:
Development and maintenance of Internal Dispatch Services for effective response to calls for service:

  • Maintains Shift Coordination schedule;
  • Recruits and provides an orientation to incoming Shift Coordinators;
  • Supervises Shift Coordinators ensuring HR files are up to date, annual reviews completed, post-shift debriefs are completed;
  • Facilitates regular meetings and maintains meeting documentation to ensure all Shift Coordinators have the most current information to execute their duties effectively;
  • Ensures ongoing training for all Shift Coordinators;
  • Maintenance of dispatch/SNR system for effective response to calls for service; and
  • Acts as Shift Coordinator and back up on a rotating basis as required.

Program Development:
Provides feedback and information to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of programs and services:

  • Participate in the development of an annual work plan to implement and enhance existing program/service deliverables and develop new program initiatives;
  • Reviewing and revising crisis services related policies/procedures;
  • Communicating changes in program/service delivery/mandate, in policy/procedures and/or community resources/partnerships;
  • Contribute to the further development of the case management database

Other:

  • Participates on committees as required, both within and outside the organization.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Documentation:

  • University Degree in sociology/psychology/social work/other relevant field preferred
  • Experience in crisis intervention and trauma-informed practice
  • Demonstrated Crisis Intervention skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, and volunteer management skills and abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient digital literacy skills including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and publishing software.
  • Knowledge of different social service organizations and indigenous organizations in the Bruce, Grey, Perth area and how to access these community resources.
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
