The Facilities Management Department as part of the Office of Business Operations and Strategic Affairs aims to facilitate the Academic Mission of excellence in Research and Teaching by providing a safe, clean,healthy, comfortable and sustainable environment for students, faculty staff and visitors. Your opportunity:

As the Coordinator, Student Life and Sustainability Programs, you will serve as a resource to students as the main point of contact at UTSC for sustainability information and for promoting sustainability initiatives and experiential learning opportunities to students along with supporting sustainability initiatives on campus for the UTSC community. You will work closely with individuals in the Office of Business Operations and Strategic Affairs, the Office of Student Experience, as well as the student and academic community among others to plan and implement components of sustainability programs and activities, including organizing and facilitating educational workshops and seminars, implementing plans and process improvements for sustainability project activities and developing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks. Additionally, you will be assigningand checking the work of work-study students and serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) administrative guidance and developing strategies that maximize outreach to students.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Planning and implementing components of sustainability curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities, including student run sustainability programming
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Promoting sustainability initiatives and experiential learning opportunities to students, staff and faculty.
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Developing content for marketingand/or promotional materials
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Assigning and checking the work of work-study students, sustainability interns and graduate students
  • Serving as a resource to others for sustainability information by providing (non-supervisory) administrative guidance


Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of related work experience promoting sustainability initiatives and programs
  • Experience planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities including assessing eligibility of activities for co-curricular record inclusion
  • Experience planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Experience advising and coaching students on co-curricular goal-setting
  • Demonstrated experience promoting sustainability initiatives and programs
  • Strong computer skills with working experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and maintaining and analyzing data
  • Experience facilitating at educational workshops and seminars

  • Experience developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 12 - $70,427 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $90,064. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
