AEM Ltd. is looking to hire Controls Service Technicians to join the Service Team in Nova Scotia. The Controls Service Technician will be responsible for proactively servicing and maintaining HVAC mechanical and controls systems, perform startups, and commission systems.

AEM Ltd. offers various support such as internal technical support where technicians can call in, product knowledge training and certification, and in-house training from Advanced Specialists. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

Service and Maintenance

  • Perform service and maintenance on HVAC mechanical and controls systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC mechanical and controls issues including refrigeration, ventilation, electrical, electronic, direct digital controls, etc.
  • Provide proactive service and recommendation for future repairs and improvements to help optimize systems.
  • Provide quotes or estimates to customers.
  • Identify opportunities for retrofit of mechanical and controls systems to help generate new business.
  • Perform startups and commission systems to ensure successful completion of jobs.
  • Complete and submit work order reports in a timely manner to ensure invoices are processed.

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service and develop key customer relationships by providing proactive service and recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in HVAC, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Building Automation, and or Electronic Engineering Program coupled with 1-3 years of experience in a service-oriented environment within a similar industry.
  • Good technical knowledge of HVAC controls systems as well as energy management systems is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge HVAC mechanical systems is considered an asset.
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to utilize technical resources.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical processes and solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Good attention to details and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in work order reports.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to sort through work orders and set priorities daily.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and work well with others.
  • Willing and able to work overtime hours, or work outside the normal business hours, and or work rotational on-call schedule.
