There is currently a temporary opportunity until approximately March 2023 which may be extended upon mutual agreement or become permanent.

The Ministry of Attorney General, Court Services Branch is in need of skilled professionals to provide administrative support to the New Westminster Law Courts and to interact with a diverse group of stakeholders.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who exemplify the professional values of the BC Public Service to join our team as a Registry Clerk. In the role of Registry Clerk, you will apply your demonstrated organizational skills to operate and maintain the computerized case tracking system to record essential information for opening, processing, maintaining, scheduling and recording results for court files including electronic filing. Providing accurate information requires the ability to interpret complex documentation. You will also provide case information to all users of the court system and perform other related duties as required. This position reports to one of the Administrators, for either Civil or Criminal Programs.

Job Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
  • Must have 1 year experience working in an office environment OR 1 year combination of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing and standard computer applications and software programs (e.g. Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must have 40 WPM keyboarding/typing
PREFERENCES
  • Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD)
  • Experience with delivering Customer Service
  • Experience in accounting services
Provisos
  • The successful applicant may be required to work overtime without prior notice.
  • Attendance and completion of relevant training is required
  • May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice
  • May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to (30 lbs)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
