The Charging Subsystem Validation Engineer is responsible for developing and performing validation test plans and procedures for electric vehicle charging system. This position will require the extensive use of CAN/Power-line communication (PLC) based testing tools and other electrical testing equipment in an electrical lab atmosphere to test and troubleshoot the charging system to ensure compliance to industrial charging standards. The Charging System Validation Engineer will also participate and contribute in various committees SAE J1772, IEC 6158, GBT 18487, DIN 70122, ISO 15118, Chademo.

The Charging Subsystem Validation Engineer will work closely with design release engineers, software/hardware engineer and program team to ensure designs are robust to charging requirements, meet exact function, and are compliant to the standards.

The Charging Subsystem Validation Engineer will report out testing status as needed and document test failures in the issue management system, also perform initial triage of failures to determine which component in the vehicle is not following specifications, also follow open issues through closure to ensure they are fully resolved via iterative validation process.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Applied Physics, Systems, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering degree
  • Minimum FIVE (5) years in product engineering design and development, with emphasis on systems and product development
  • Understand real-time systems, hardware and software
  • Understand regulatory requirements, industry standards and recommended practices
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Coordinate activities with cross functional teams
  • Able to use Oscilloscope and Digital multimeter
  • Able to understand basic electrical circuits DVP&R creation & execution experience
  • Experience in using CANalyzer or CANoe and CAPL
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field
  • Extensive experience in electrical vehicle level testing/validation
  • Knowledge of AC charging standards including SAE J1772, IEC 61851, GB/T 18487
  • Knowledge of DC charging standards including DIN 70121, ISO 15118, GB/T 27930
  • Experience in high-voltage laboratory, test equipment commission, setup and maintenance
  • Knowledge of ETAS logging and calibration tool like INCA Ability to draw wiring/breakout box schematics
  • Ability to read MATLAB Simulink code
  • Intermediate experience using C, Python
  • Able to analyze data, prepare and present reports to management
  • Participate and contribute in various charging committees like SAE J1772, IEC 61851, GB/T 18487, DIN 70121, ISO 15118, GB/T 27930
  • Able to perform simulation using Simscape/LTspice/PSIM
