UBER Building Solutions is looking for a positive, hard-working and reliable experience/certified carpenter to join their growing team. We are a family orientated, licensed custom home builder/general contractor company operating in Penticton and the southern parts of the Okanagan. Along with buiding new homes, we do larger scope renovations, along with providing in-house fabrication and screw/helical pile services.

Applicant should have at least five years of carpentry experience and have a thorough understanding of rough, finish carpentry, and all trades associated with residential and commercial construction. The position requires the ability and willingness to work in a team and a willingness to interact with other UBER Building Solutions employees and clients. Strong communication skills are vital. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and their own set of basic tools (impact driver, measuring tape, hammer, etc... All other tools provided on each project).

Job Requirements And Responsibilities

• Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications
• Perform carpentry tasks with the highest quality of craftsmanship in the time allotted.
• Keep informed of the entire project scope including revisions, change orders or changes to the scope of work and the schedule.
• Capable of taking and following directions from supervisors and other trades/professionals.
• Ability to operate heavy tools, machines, and other equipment.
• Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations.
• Responsible for jobsite safety, cleanliness, security and protection from the elements
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull, and lift heavy objects
• Good communication skills.
• Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination.
• Knowledge of mathematics
• Comfortable working on multiple job sites
• Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
• MUST Maintain a good attitude even through adversity.
• Be able to problem solve without the direction of superiors
• 5-10 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry
• Operating an excavator and skidsteer an ASSET
  

Job Description

A lead carpenter is responsible for monitoring field carpenters on performing construction duties, analyzing schematics and blueprints, following clients’ specifications, completing the project within the agreed timeframe, and maintaining materials with the budget goals, ensuring the highest quality and client’s satisfaction. Canidate may be required to go between multiple job sites at times, complete daily reports of job progress, conduct job status meetings with crew and project managers, establish relationships and managed conflict resolution with all involved parties during projects to create an agreeable working environment.

Schedule: Official workday is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday- unless otherwise discussed due to specific project needs.

Compensation and Benefits: Hourly pay. Weekly pay period that runs from Thursday to Friday. Paid Stat holidays.

Physical Demands: Employees may be required to stand or walk over 65% of the time. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling may be required. Lifting up to 100 lbs. Must meet vision requirements to obtain a driver’s license.

Work Environment: Employees will be required to work in outdoor and indoor settings. Working in wet, cold or hot conditions may be required. Working near moving mechanical parts. Working in high or precarious places may be required. Fumes or airborne particles may be present at worksites.

Wage: $30-$34/hr depending on experience and skill set. Benefits and RRSP match offered after 3months.
