The Public Guardian and Trustee (“PGT”) of British Columbia is a corporation sole, created under the Public Guardian and Trustee Act which operates independently under provincial legislation to protect the legal and financial interests of children under the age of 19 years; protect the legal, financial, and in some cases personal and health care interests of adults who require assistance in decision making; and administer the estates of deceased and missing persons.

Estate and Personal Trust Services is responsible for, in accordance with recognized principles of law, the provision of personal trust services, the administration of the estates of the deceased and missing persons, executor appointments and litigation representative in the PGT’s various legal capacities of Administrator for the Province, Executor, Trustee, Curator, Committee or Property Guardian for an intestate successor, beneficiary, trustee or judicial trustee.

The Regional Manager supervises a number of professional staff ensuring a positive work environment is maintained and that EPTS staff receives the proper training and support required to provide estate and personal trust services. The Regional Manager is expected to apply subject matter expertise in relation to providing estate and personal trust services. The Regional Manager directly supervises a number of professional staff and deals with labour relations issues, including contract administration, and is authorized to deal with grievances at Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure. The Regional Manger assumes the full authority and responsibilities of the Director as required. The Regional Manager is instrumental in developing and managing operational policies, procedures and performance.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in a related field such as law, commerce, business or public administration, or an accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA)
  • Progressive leadership experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience within the past 5 years which may include:
    • Experience in program and service delivery planning and evaluation.
    • Experience in program/policy development.
    • Experience leading major projects and change management processes.
    • Experience working with external senior officials and organizations with the ability to establish and maintain a network of relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Two years recent experience supervising a number of staff or equivalent. Equivalent supervisory experience may include a minimum of 2 years’ experience leading staff, leading major projects or sustained leadership and participation in one or more major projects/committees.

OR

  • The equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience may include the successful completion of post-secondary courses related to the field and five years’ experience in administering a caseload of complex estates or trusts and two years recent progressive leadership experience.
