Job Description:


Job Summary

The Recruitment Specialist conducts high-volume recruitment and provides leadership to the recruitment processes and practices across the organization. This role will ensure a superior candidate experience, proactively build a pipeline of talent by developing effective sourcing strategies, enhance our employer brand, and improve our overall recruiting processes.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Management of the Coast Applicant Tracking System, including development and documentation of internal use processes, system training and support for employees and managers, and candidate pool management
  • Provide recruitment support for Hiring Managers, including identifying/scoping recruitment needs, the development of assessment tools, recruitment training, and leading exempt hire and hard-to-fill searches
  • Develop creative, proactive, and targeted sourcing strategies to identify a talent pipeline, including establishing talent pools, building out effective advertising strategies, and partnering with appropriate certification programs, colleges, universities, associations, etc. This position will also manage, promote and execute the Employee Referral Program, and manages the practicum student program for the organization
  • Collaborate closely within the HR team, ensuring alignment of goals and knowledge sharing. This role may lead or collaborate on HR projects outside the scope of recruitment, based on capacity and need



Job Requirements:


Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have a diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, plus five years of experience in human resources, with a minimum of 2 years focused on recruitment. Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

CPHR designation is considered an asset as is experience in healthcare, and/or recruiting in a unionized environment would also be an asset.

  • Experience utilizing various sourcing tools (including social media) and out of the box strategies to source hard-to-fill roles and develop talent pipelines
  • Demonstrated experience in managing recruitment processes in a complex and growing organization; developing recruitment strategies, write compelling job postings
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations, and the drive to provide exceptional internal customer service to staff and managers
  • The innovative approach to finding solutions, backed by strong systems methodology and data orientation
  • Demonstrated initiative to take a solution-oriented approach to resolve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to manage a high work volume and multiple priorities
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, HRIS software, on-line HR systems, and a demonstrated capability for learning specific software applications
  • Business acumen, and a results-orientation

The Organization
Coast Mental Health (Coast) is one of the largest mental health non-profit societies in Canada, and operates a large array of innovative housing and community based rehabilitation services for people with a mental illness living in and around Vancouver. Coast operates in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia providing approximately 1200 people with supportive housing and 4000 clients living in the community with a wide variety of programs and services.

Coast fosters a client-centred, recovery-oriented environment that promotes restoring health, personal growth and a return to society for individuals with a mental illness through advocacy and providing direct programs and services.

Coast currently employs over 500 staff in the Greater Vancouver area, with over 40 program sites. We work with two unions and three collective agreements within the Health Care sector.
