We are currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant to join our Trademark Team based out of our Ottawa or Toronto office. In this role you will work on a dynamic team to provide day-to-day operational support for our Trademark agents and lawyers. This position requires an excellent multi-tasker with strong administrative and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

It is expected that the successful candidate will work a mix of in-office and at home.

Responsibilities.
  • Preparation and filing of Trademark Office prosecution, Opposition and Section 45 submissions
  • Analyze documents received from the Trademark Office and report to clients
  • Monitoring and responding to deadlines, extensions and other time sensitive matters
  • General administrative duties including time entry, preparation of billings and file management
  • Responding to clients, CIPO and other parties
  • Other duties may be assigned or amended as required.
Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience .
  • Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma, or a combination of relevant work experience and education
  • 1-2 years of administrative assistant experience in a professional services environment. Previous experience in the area of trademarks or intellectual property would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal directly with clients and all levels of staff. This role is English essential, but French language skills would be an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and proactive
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and ability to learn new software and technology quickly
