    The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff the IT Support Specialist position.

    About the Role:
    In the role of IT Support Specialist, you are responsible to provide and deliver Information Technology (IT) support and troubleshooting services to Parliamentary Precinct users (e.g., Members of the House of Commons and their staff, House Officers and their staff, House of Commons Administration, Library of Parliament, PWGSC Translation Bureau, Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner); to resolve technical problems involving hardware, software and databases on-site and/or over the phone; to respond to client’s requests within the established service level agreement; to analyse, troubleshoot and provide consultation services when incidents occur and to recommend appropriate courses of action; to work in a team environment at different phases on a variety of projects and coordinate with various service providers when required to have warranty and non-warranty Items repaired and/or replaced.

    The House of Commons standard technical environment consists of, but is not limited to, Windows 7 and 10, Microsoft Office 2010, 2019, and 365, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, Apple & Android devices utilizing Intune, as well as remote management tools like SCCM, SMS and Active Directory Group policies.

    Prerequisites

    Education
    • A post-secondary school degree or diploma in a IT related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.
    Experience
    • A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in installing, configuring, testing, supporting and resolving problems on Windows based personal computer hardware and software in a corporate networked environment;
    • A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in troubleshooting and support of Microsoft Windows 7 or later and/or Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Suite or later.
    Asset
    • A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting and supporting of current generation mobile devices and their respective operating systems (Apple iOS and Android);
    • A minimum of one (1) year of recent troubleshooting and support of Apple’s Device enrollment Program (DEP) and Android Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) devices in a corporate environment;
    • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle high pressure situations;
    • Experience interacting with high-profile clients and various stakeholders;
    • Experience in large scale lifecycle and client relocation projects;
    • Experience in installing, configuring and supporting a voice over IP (VoIP) Telephone system.

    Outcome

    The purpose of this recruitment and selection process is to staff the position of IT Support Specialist on a short-term basis and to create a pool of potential candidates that may be considered to staff future vacancies for this position or for other similar and/or related positions on an indeterminate and/or determinate basis.
