The Human Resources and Health and Safety Coordinator supports in the development, implementation and evaluation of both the human resources program and the health and safety management system to meet the goals and legal obligations of Onsite Sign Group. These functions include, but may not be limited to, program development, assessments, facilitation and evaluation of safety management systems, environmental safety, employee and family wellness and the development, implementation and consultation on safety policies. The Human Resources and Health and Safety Coordinator works closely with management and employees to provide guidance in all matters related to Human Resources and Health and Safety. The successful candidate would be preferred to be located in Lloydminster but would consider a remote position for the right candidate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides guidance and support in Onsite’s Health and Safety Program and providing technical expertise on health and safety issues including reviewing existing programs and policies, providing recommendations for updates to ensure safe operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts assessments of Onsite’s Health and Safety Management Systems, providing leadership, guidance and expertise and verifies compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Coordinates and conduct formal and information safety inspections, audits and site inspections to ensure or improve the effectiveness of Onsite’s Health and Safety Program and supplemental programs.
  • Respond to emergency situations, conduct prompt and thorough investigations of all incidents/accidents and near misses, document and prepare recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Provides advice and guidance to management and employees in the interpretation and application of legislation, programs, policies and procedures as they relate to occupational health and safety.
  • Makes recommendations for health and safety improvements.
  • Coordinates, develops and delivers health and safety training.
  • Provides support and guidance to the Health and Safety Representatives and/or the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Prepares reports and statistical analysis to support the Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • Manage WCB claims, including administration of modified work program, ensuring all claims and required documentation are completed accurately and submitted with in suitable timeframes.
  • Maintain COR compliance. Coordinate and participate in annual COR audit, review results and develop and implement COR corrective action plan focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance requirements to multiple registry platforms such as ISNetworld and Avetta.
  • Build and implement effective onboarding procedures and conduct new employee orientations.
  • Support all recruitment and selection activities, through to onboarding. This includes but is not limited to posting job ads, organizing resumes and job applications, scheduling job interviews and assisting in interview process, etc.
  • Working with the HR team, develop and administer effective rewards and recognition programs.
  • Support employee engagement activities and initiatives including events and annual training, etc.
  • Coordinate the employee engagement survey and participate in crafting an action plan in conjunction with management.

DESIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Certificate/Diploma/Designation related to the field of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, within a health & safety capacity
  • Experience with administrative and audit work is an asset
  • Proficient using MS Office Products
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail, organization, problem solving, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Excellent communicator with great influencing skills, able to build exceptional working relationships across all levels, confident in challenging unacceptable Health & Safety behavior
  • Effective self-managing, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions
