Role

Are you passionate about working with people and enjoy a fast paced environment? Alberta Parks is seeking individuals with a passion for people and excellent customer service skills to fill seasonal Visitor Service Attendant Crew Lead positions for the 2022 season.

In this role, you will supervise a team of seasonal Visitor Services Attendants in all aspects of job performance and daily operations of the facility including completing new staff orientation and training while also assisting with front-line operations to help maintain front-line excellent front-line customer service.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct supervision of up to 13 front-line Visitor Services Attendants staff; assist Safety Ambassador Crew Lead with providing coverage as needed
  • Assist facility staff with visitor complaint/conflict resolution
  • Reconcile and consolidate daily revenue, balance floats, prepare bank deposits and cash pickups
  • Order and pickup of required equipment, stock and supplies
  • Coach, monitor and address employee performance and concerns; assist with performance evaluations
  • Enter and maintain employee records (training, performance, attendance records, payroll information etc.) into appropriate systems
  • Track retail and concession inventory; obtain supplies
  • Perform required Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements such as completion of facility and vehicle inspections, update safe work procedures, operating procedures, hazard assessments and emergency response plans
  • Provide supervision coverage to Safety Ambassadors in absence of the Safety Ambassador Crew Lead

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma

Additional requirements:

  • A minimum of one year experience including concession operation/food handling, supervision, customer service and cash handling using a POS system
  • Successful completion of the AHS Food Sanitation and Hygiene Course (completion within 3 years)
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Class 5 (Full) Drivers Licence
  • Current Driver’s Abstract
  • Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age

  • Exceptional communication skills and comfort dealing with difficult customer interactions
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and comfort dealing with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy environment and remain composed and calm in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledge of Fish Creek Provincial Park amenities
  • Good listening and conflict resolution skills
  • Fluent in languages other than English

Salary

$21.35 - $26.09 per hour

  • Additional pay of $3.25 per hour after 3 p.m. Fridays and on weekends

Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

Notes

  • Positions start dates vary from early May/June and run until early/mid September
  • Scheduled 40 hours per week based on up to 10 hours paid work per day. Days of the week, number of days per week and hours per day vary from time to time.
  • These positions are expected to be available to work weekends, evenings and stat holidays throughout the summer. Time off during the season cannot be accommodated.
  • Training will take place mid-June
  • Requirement to wear uniforms and name tags

WEATHER AND VISITOR ATTENDANCE IMPACT OPERATIONAL STAFFING NEEDS. SCHEDULED HOURS ARE NOT GUARANTEED but based on weather and visitor attendance.
