Transdev Canada is hiring a Transit Bus Driver for our Kamloops location!

Your Role

• Drives one of several different transit or company non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule.
• Maintains a strong attendance record.
• Performs pre/post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
• Possess a functional knowledge of the demographics of the service area.
• Stops at designated points to load and/or unload passengers.
• Assist in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and is required to properly secure wheelchairs and scooters.
• Notifies dispatch of deviations, overload, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, or bus mechanical/electrical trouble.
• Ensures that fares are deposited into the fare box and dispenses information. Advises passengers of rules and regulations when necessary.
• Completes and submits written reports concerning passengers and all accidents.
• Operates on-board computer system.
• Assumes all other duties assigned.

Your Profile

• You are safety focused and posses a great attention to detail.
• You hold a valid British Columbia Class 2 or 1 Drivers License is preferred. A Class 2 Learners Permit with Air Brakes endorsement is accepted.
• You possess the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• You can work independently.
• You have strong multi-tasking and time management skills. -You have a clear driver’s abstract, and you can pass the CRRA Vulnerable Records Check and Drug Tests.
• Transit experience is an asset.
• You have good verbal communication skills.
• You can read, write, speak English, and perform basic mathematical procedures.
• You can work under stress and meet strict timelines.
• You can work without direct supervision.
• You can read and understand street signs, route sheets and maps.
  
  

Your location:

• There is a requirement to work in the Kamloops Transit System operates 21 hours per day 7-day a week. This position is a unionized role.
• Casual Transit Bus Drivers are required to work a range of shifts within the operating hours. Employees can expect to work 10-, 8-, and 4-hour shifts.
