Nasittuq is the successful bidder for the Operation & Maintenance of the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.*

Responsibilities: *

The Systems Analyst position is responsible for analyzing computer automation needs, designing appropriate solutions, implementing both hardware and/or software solutions, maintaining new and existing systems as well as training and assisting users in such systems and provides operational and enhancement support for the Nasittuq Information Management System.

Responsible for the administration of the Nasittuq Wide Area Network and requisite Local Area Networks and for all related infrastructure and architecture.

• Analyzes computer automation needs from both the user and technical points of view. Investigates possible solutions by researching existing markets for off-the-shelf software solutions and/or designing custom solutions as approved by management. Provides management with all associated feasibility, time, and cost analysis of automation needs.
• Implements integrated computer automation designs, which includes assembling hardware and installing software; implementing data structures or program designs determined in the analysis; and providing system, application, programming and user level documentation for continued support and training.
• Maintains existing and newly implemented systems, which includes troubleshooting system and application problems as well as advising of pending problems and implementing appropriate solutions; and, providing networking services (along with other IT staff) to Nasittuq users, as required.
• Trains and assists users in new and existing systems, which includes providing after installation/implementation instructions for established Nasittuq software and specialized in-house implementations; providing on-line or telephone support to users; and providing network and department administrators with training and support.

Requirements*:

Degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent

• Minimum five years’ experience in the information technology field
• Cisco CCNA, ISSO Certification and Citrix Xenapp Advanced System Administration
• Knowledge of methods and techniques of computer programming, systems analysis and design, documentation, computer languages and the use and limitations of Information Technology equipment
• Knowledge of computer networking systems and practices; training systems; telephone and telecommunications systems and networks
• Adaptability and ability to manage priorities with attention to detail and work cross-culturally
• Computer literate in MS applications, strong written and verbal communication skills
• Candidates must be Canadian citizens, be eligible for SECRET security clearance and pass a pre-employment medical
