Western Technology Services (WTS) at Western is committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective technology-related services and solutions in support of the campus community. Infrastructure Services, (IS) as a division of WTS, is responsible for providing faculty, staff and students with a technology infrastructure comprised of hardware and software that supports the teaching, learning, and administration needs of the campus. The Infrastructure Services division is tasked with the design, implementation, and maintenance, of the referenced infrastructure which includes the foundational components, Data Network, Data Center Operations, Central Servers and System Administration.

TheProject Consultant, Infrastructure Services, provides leadership in the application and monitoring of project management processes within the Western Technology Services (WTS) Infrastructure Services (IS) division, leading and providing guidance to specific IS projects as needed. A key objective of the role is to develop and mature the application of project management methodologies, tools and related processes within the WTS-IS portfolio. The Project Consultant assists IS teams in the identification of opportunities to leverage ’good project management practices’, the alignment of business processes, and with project definition, planning, coordination, and scheduling. The role supports the definition of projects, requirements, decision-making, quality assurance, change management, and monitors the use of project resources.

Qualifications

Education:

- University Degree

- Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation

- Certification in Change Management is preferred

- University Degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Software Development, Software Engineering, etc.) is preferred

Experience:

- 3 years’ work experience managing large complex projects, including all aspects of process development and execution

- 3 years’ work experience supporting technology implementation projects

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Expert in a variety of software and tools used to support the management of projects and communication plans (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Agile, Scrum, Kanban)

- Knowledge of quality standards relative to operational improvement

- In depth knowledge of project management methodologies and change management best practices

- Knowledge of techniques for planning, managing, and coordinating multiple projects, often with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders

- Skilled at managing team dynamics and developing team members

- Ability and willingness to drive consultative and collaborative decisions to address identified issues

- Ability to develop and maintain a network of contacts that provide information and insight regarding Western’s environment, emergent opportunities, and best practices

- Client service skills that include an ability to apply tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive issues, and a range of personalities, motives and interests

- Ability to lead during change and times of uncertainty by drawing on past experience and reaching out to colleagues for guidance when required

- Well-developed presentation and public speaking skills in both creating and delivering presentations

- Proficient in relevant enterprise applications and office software

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports and lead business discussions

- Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments and commitment to professional development

- Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions
