JR. Project Engineer () - Windsor, ON

Where the Chemistry Happens

As the Project Engineer (jr) at the Windsor Paint Plant, you will provide Technical leadership of a diversely managed capital portfolio and execution team and sitewide project management support services for plant projects.

Your primary responsibilities include the safe and effective execution of small and medium capital projects, while managing all stakeholder expectations including support for the development and implementation of capital projects consistent with requirements as defined by the site and region, as well as all appropriate related contracting strategies. You will support the development and implementation of all capital strategies in alignment with targets established by Asset Management and BU Capital Planning. You will work closely with the OD’s/key stakeholders to proactively develop and deliver the agreed project portfolio. Additionally, you will implement steering FT based on Business needs and work with the OD and BU KAM managers to review and prioritize service demand and collect monthly feedback.

Formula for Success

Leveraging your education in Engineering and your experience as a Project Manager and discipline engineer, you will manage the capital project portfolio (small to medium size projects execution) and provide project controls services (e.g. estimating, scheduling, cost controlling, document control, etc.) to the Manufacturing areas at the site.

Displaying your continuous improvement mindset and commitment to LEAN or similar process improvement methodologies, you will lead the organization’s continuous improvement activities by fostering innovation and facilitating change that drives improvement in the planning and execution of capital projects at the site.

Demonstrating your strong focus and understanding of Occupational and Process Safety programs and relevant Environmental Regulatory / Compliance programs that impact manufacturing Sites, you will ensure the application of all safety rules, assuring Engineering personnel are aware of and employing safe working practices and promoting safety programs and behaviors.

Your ability to interact and communicate at a high competency level in manufacturing technical discussions will be essential as you participate in regional teams to develop and optimize technical engineering execution, reliability, and work processes.
  • Leveraging your extensive educational background in Chemical Engineering or a related field, along with your plant/project engineering operations experience, you will lead capital investment project teams by providing direction in the support of critical tasks such as engineering, process evaluations development, operating procedures, equipment selection, and project support.
  • Your strong fundamental knowledge of Engineering and Science will be a valued asset as you will champion project scope development and ensure basic engineering completeness while applying techniques that add value.
  • Your excellent project management skills will be essential as you will manage multiple small- and medium-size projects that vary in scope and complexity.
  • Your commitment to safety will be critical as you will be relied on to maintain a safe and productive workplace and ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and technical standards.
  • Utilizing your extensive communication and presentation skills, you will lead the development of project technical packages that include P&IDs, equipment layouts, specifications of components in full compliance with applicable industry standards.
Driving strategic decisions for the business, you will generate RFQ packages for competitive bidding, review of vendor submittals, and work with Procurement to purchase necessary equipment.
