Edrington Brand Ambassador - Western Canada

Beam Suntory Canada and Edrington have a unique joint venture in Canada. The successful canadidate would work directly for Edrington.

Edrington’s vision is to give more by building the world’s leading portfolio of exceptional super premium spirits and we will do that by becoming the world’s leading super premium brand builder. The Macallan is our central focus, supported by Highland Park and The Glenrothes in the fast-growing Single Malt category and Naked Malt in the Blended Malt category. Our portfolio is completed with The Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky, and Brugal premium rum from the Dominican Republic.

Role Responsibilities

The Brand Ambassador will be responsible for engaging and building The Macallan through consumer activations, strategic partnerships, and distributor partner engagement, bringing The Macallan “world” to life in their key city. The role serves to increase brand awareness, create “best in class” brand activations, drive velocity, distribution & trade education objectives to achieve brand and commercial goals, and overall annual plan for the region. It is vital that the Brand Ambassador embodies the essence of The Macallan in appearance, behaviour and delivery of key brand messages.

As a secondary focus, the Brand Ambassador will be responsible for supporting Highland Park, The Glenrothes, Naked Malt, The Famous Grouse & Brugal Rum.

The Brand Ambassador is the face of our brands in his/her markets and responsible for the education and engagement of consumers, customers, distributor partners, influencers, media and other key stakeholders.

Specifically, they are accountable for (but not limited to):

Consumer Facing 40%

  • Acting as the face of the brand and our in-market authority of The Macallan, Highland Park, The Glenrothes, Naked Malt, The Famous Grouse & Brugal conducting brand education sessions and hosting unique brand experiences, including experiential events, private tastings and education for HNWI client base
  • Fully proficient with all aspects of the brands, be able to be a brand advocate and conduct tastings and education seminars. Actively recruit new consumers via networking, events, partnerships
  • Activate quarterly against global and regional partnerships, working closely with brand teams
  • Representing the brands at priority media, consumer and trade events
  • Maintaining Business Partners database

Trade Facing 50%

  • Collaborate with brand, local team and distributor partners to drive sales, in market account planning, activation planning & KPI delivery
  • Focus on executing luxury on-premise and top priority account strategies as per market/key city segmentation, working closely with distributor partners
  • Delivering bespoke education and building elevated brand confidence within priority trade accounts, inspiring brand advocacy and ensuring front of mind presence
  • Able to provide product, promotion, and suggested pricing information by clarifying business partners request and client requests; managing flow of information
  • Building and supporting relationships with key stakeholders (ex. Beverage Directors, F&B Managers, FOH staff)

Influencer & Media Outreach 10%

  • Building and supporting influencer networks, including collectors, professional groups, relevant media and luxury partners, focusing on engagement in Vancouver
  • Creating and developing a The Macallan social media following, adhering to brand social media guidelines to create a cohesive brand voice

Other

  • Updates Managers through weekly action summaries. Provides monthly reporting and post-mortem event analyses
  • Working with Marketing teams to implement a range of marketing activations and communications that are in line with brand DNA and objectives
  • Collaborating with key internal stakeholders and actively contributing as part of the global network
  • The management and most efficient use of their annual T&E and activation budget
  • Adherence to consumer data protection protocols via regular and appropriate use of CRM tools for managing relationships, communication and information

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent gained via work experience within luxury brand, spirits industry or hospitality experience
  • Appreciation of craftmanship and product excellence
  • Strong social media skills, connection with Influencer communities in key markets
  • Ability to use technology seamlessly in presentations
  • A strong sense of ownership and pride, with the ability to work independently
  • Fluency in English – French and other languages is a plus
  • Legal drinking age, adherence to Edrington’s Marketing Code of Conduct
  • Eligible to work in Canada, position based in Vancouver

It would be advantageous if candidates have:

  • A passion for whisky
  • Previous experience as a Brand Ambassador
  • Experience working with luxury brand(s) and their clientele
  • Category, brand and portfolio strategy experience
  • Socially connected to Vancouver Influencer community
  • Leadership and mentoring/training skills
  • Formal Media training
