Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is looking for industrial 3D Piping Designer, Intermediate/Senior (staff/Contract) for immediate and/or possible upcoming projects at our Process & Energy office in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This thriving northern community is the hub for northern Alberta and British Columbia, stretching all the way into the Northwest Territories. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop 3D models and working drawings using company and industry standards and codes
  • Providing design and technical support for the layout, design, supporting and specification of piping and components for industrial plants and related infrastructure
  • Providing conceptual front end design to full detailed design and material take-offs for industrial and mining plants
  • Designing and drafting of piping and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments
  • Preparing and verifying designs on site including creation of tie-in drawings
  • Reviewing project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
  • Establishing good working relationships and communication with area leads, department managers, clients and other team members to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design.
  • Travelling to site locations for design and/or construction/commissioning
Skills / Qualifications:
  • 10+ years industrial experience in piping design, preferably with experience in one or more of the following: pulp and paper, seed oils, chemical, or water treatment plants. Additional design experience with mechanical equipment layout will be considered an asset.
  • Self-motivated with good leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience and proficiency with AutoCAD 2D
  • E3D design and E3D Draw drafting a strong attribute
  • Site experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environmen.
  • Experience with data-centric/integrated engineering environments an asset
  • Written and oral use of conversational and technical English
  • The successful candidate shall have experience and posses the physical ability to work out of the office on heavy industrial sites independently and safely.

    This position is open to Canadian and USA applications only. Relocation allowances will be considered for qualified candidates.
