What can you expect?
The Video Content Creator is in a highly visible, integral role on the Media and Communications team, working to animate, capture, and broadcast the Banff Sunshine Village Experience. The Video Content Creator generates web-series ideas, captures weekly video content of events, edits video content, and shares content across the resort’s social and traditional platforms. This position reports to the Director, Brand & Communications, under the guidance of the Events Supervisor, and works alongside all personnel in Sales and Marketing.

Video Content Creation: overseeing and leading tasks and specific projects, as directed, by capturing awe inspiring videos showcasing the FUN and magic of Banff Sunshine Village. This role specifically works to capture and share the brand personality of the resort, to a variety of target audiences.

Video Content Planning:
  • Scripting and directing amenity videos.
  • Planning to share post event videos (typically, Monday after the event concludes).
  • Calendar key sales messages and creating video strategies to aid in the promotion of sales messages.
  • Checking in weekly with various resort departments to share/tell the Sunshine story.
  • Working with the Social Coordinator to work with and check in on all resort departments, as well as working alongside external contractors.
  • Performing site inspections for video teasers, events, photo shoots, television, and movie productions.
Content Management and Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Aiding in the scripting and storyboarding of weekly Banff Sunshine Village video content.
  • Executing content plans, filming, and editing video content with consistency and success.
  • Editing and organizing videos into a content library, ensuring proper tags are used.
  • Creating a weekly “best of” edit to share with various partners and media.
  • Keep up to date on all Sunshine Village and industry news
  • Timely and accurate incident reporting to appropriate departments and personnel.
  • Ensuring company policies, including health and safety measures, are consistently adhered to.
And you have:
  • Experienced outdoor videographer (and photographer) with excellent editing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or advertising is preferred – equivalent work experience in photo/video creation and editing within social media focused environments will be considered.
  • Experience with sourcing and managing content and publishing.
  • Practical experience working with social networks and platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blogs, YouTube, Snapchat, and Vimeo.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) and video editing software such as Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro is a must, as well as basic knowledge of HTML/CSS. Experience with all Microsoft Office Suite of programs is preferred.
  • Must be an expert level skier or snowboarder and be able to carry camera gear and film content in challenging terrain. Skiing or snowboarding for work requires completion of a competency test, skiing and riding professionally, and is restricted to designated runs.
  • Must always maintain professional conduct when in uniform, and when acting as a company representative.
  • Outgoing, positive, social, and friendly attitude.
  • Must possess the ability to work individually and be a good self-starter. Coachability and willingness to take direction are essential aspects of this role.
  • Good time management skills, able to meet multiple deadlines, calm under pressure, and patient.
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
  • Must be neat, punctual, and dependable.
