Job Overview:

As an Intermediate Wetlands Biologist, you will be part of our Water Resources team providing field support by conducting research on wetlands areas, including observing plants and animals, and collecting data and samples from the field. You will be working a combination of office and fieldwork with a 20/80 split.
As an Intermediate Wetlands Biologist, you will be responsible for:
  • Creating detailed designs for wetland identification, creation, and restoration.
  • Performing wetland assessments including classification, identification, and delineation.
  • Conducting research in remote areas on wetland process.
  • Designing, identifying and testing mitigation procedures for construction projects in wetland-sensitive areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • A service-oriented attitude with a desire to provide innovative environmental solutions to complex client sites.
  • Drive to adapt new technologies to carry out environmental investigations.
  • Motivation and drive to seek out new challenges without being asked.
  • Motivation to learn and constantly improve processes and tools.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in environmental sciences or similar.
  • Eligibility for membership in a professional organization such as AIA, ASPB, or APEGA/EGBC.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of directly related experience in field biology.
  • A strong understanding of the federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulatory frameworks.
  • A strong understanding of wetland identification, classification, restoration, and protection.
  • Certified as a Wetlands Practitioner or has declared the study and assessment on wetlands as an area of practice within their professional organization would be an asset.
  • Clear effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Excellent safety attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently.
  • A valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.
  • You will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
