Klohn Crippen Berger is looking for the experienced services of a Vegetation Specialist, Ecologist or Soil Scientist to join our team in the Edmontonor* Calgary office*. This role will primarily be focused on pre-disturbance types of investigations and environmental assessments to evaluate potential environmental effects associated with various development initiatives. This position is full time and will involve a combination of field and office work in a fast-paced consulting environment that offers opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Plan, lead and actively run field projects for a variety of sectors in remote sites
  • Engage in and utilize your knowledge of environmental baseline developments and impact assessments, environmental effects monitoring, ecological monitoring and habitat reclamation to obtain regulatory permits and approvals
  • Participate in building client relationships, project planning, subcontractor management and coordination with regulatory agencies
  • Prepare and review technical reports
  • Be the subject matter expert while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop proposals and budgets with the financial acumen to ensure projects are delivered within budget as well as on time
  • Travel throughout Canada, although mainly Alberta and western Canada

If you have 4 to 10 years of applicable experience conducting environmental impact assessments, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree specializing in Agrology, Botany, Ecology, Biology or Environmental Sciences, a solid understanding of native wetland and prairie vegetation, and are registered as a P.Biol. or P.Ag., we want to connect with you!
We value your:

  • Strong taxonomic vegetation identification skills including rare plants, weeds, and invasive exotic species
  • Previous experience in planning, leading, and conducting vegetation and wetland surveys to support environmental assessments for infrastructure, mining, and other industry sector clients
  • Knowledge and experience with various Ecological Land Classification (ELC) systems and spatial datasets such as the Alberta Vegetation Inventory
  • Ability to prepare and digitize vegetation community mapping by interpreting digital imagery and field data derived from detailed vegetation surveys
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian System of Soil Classification and AGRASID
  • Strong understanding of all the pertinent regulatory guidelines, regulations, and legislation
  • Reclamation, restoration, and/or bioengineering experience
  • Initiative, motivation and drive to manage project deliverables and achieve goals
  • Ability to build strong, effective relationships with clients and project teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including technical writing ability
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
