Our Company:


Serving the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, Bouwa Whee Catering is a division of the Det’on Cho Hospitality Group, a 100% indigenous owned organization, providing top-tier, professional camp catering services to Canada’s northern mines. We promote a positive work-place culture focused on growth, teamwork and inclusivity and are seeking a Training & Retail Lead to join our vibrant team.


The Position:


Reporting to the Head Housekeeper, the Training & Retail Lead is responsible for training new housekeepers on safety procedures, company culture, Safe Job Procedures, and job tasks to provide clean and safe living accommodations for our guests. This role also entails running all areas of the on-site commissary (general store), including inventory, purchasing, and acting as store clerk.


The successful candidate must also be willing and able to fulfill all reasonable related requests of the Head Housekeeper and our clients, including filling in for housekeepers when needed.


This position is eligible for medical benefits & rsp matching, Residents of the Northwest Terrirotires are also eligible for an additional + $10,000/year Northern Living Allowance.


Qualifications:


Our ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:


  • Must have at least 1-2 years’ experience in retail, and 1-year related experience in the housekeeping/janitorial field
  • Exceptional customer service skills and enjoys working with the public
  • A background in accounting and bookkeeping is considered an asset.
  • Must have excellent computer skills.
  • Must have knowledge of inventory control, invoicing, spreadsheet applications and purchase order systems.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with the public in a sales capacity.
  • Must be able to spend a 12-hour shift entirely on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a complete understanding of the proper use of all equipment and always employ safe working practices.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
  • have attention to details and ability to follow checklists
  • proven punctuality with a pleasant, professional demeanor

Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for:


  • Following the Head Housekeeper’s direction to accomplish high priority tasks
  • Welcoming new housekeepers when they arrive on site, including facilities tour, introductions, and orientations
  • Training all new housekeepers on Safe Job Procedures, job checklists, job shadowing and other job requirements
  • Providing the Head Housekeeper with performance feedback for all new housekeepers
  • Operating the commissary, including handling sales, interacting with customers, restocking, and posting informational signage when needed
  • Conducting commissary inventory as scheduled
  • Stocking commissary and vending machines as needed
  • Informing the Head Housekeeper when new supplies need to be purchased
  • Purchasing new inventory
