Mission

CIMA+ is looking for a Telecom/Network Engineer to join our Vancouver office. The successful candidate will be engaged in variety of projects with multiple CIMA+’s top clients delivering telecom system designs and network architecture that will meet their critical operation needs. Our telecommunications team is working with several industrial and public clients, including energy, transportation, carriers, and others on a variety of wired and wireless networking applications. CIMA+ is a well-established, multidisciplinary, Canadian engineering firm based in Eastern Canada that has been rapidly expanding operations into Western Canada. CIMA+ is looking for an individual who wants to be challenged and is ready to join a dynamic growing team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the client’s needs and recommend solutions
• Review designs, identify shortages, and propose improvements
• Communicate with client daily both formally and informally
• Be involved in all phases of networking engineering projects including:
• Needs assessment and Feasibility study
• Market research,
• Network architecture,
• Specifications,
• Detailed Design,
• Test plans,
• Oversee implementation, provide construction technical support
• Project closeout
• Produce technical documentation and reports
• Prepare and deliver presentation to director-level audiences

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, along with a Professional Engineering Designation or the ability to register as a Professional with EGBC
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in design and implementation of wired and wireless telecom networks
• Experience in the design of networks at OSI layers 1 to 4 deployed in operation-critical applications
• Experience in designing fault tolerant, robust networks, leveraging several layers of failover mechanisms (MPLS-TP, ERPS, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.) is required
• Broad networking experience including:
• Transport Layer (DWDM, MPLS-TP, SONET/SDH),
• LAN Switching / VLAN,
• IP/MPLS and MPLS-TP,
• Enterprise Routing (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS),
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organization skills and excellent interpersonal abilities
• Knowledge in the following fields would be considered an asset:
  • Microwave radio, WiMAX, Satellite,
  • LTE and Wi-Fi,
  • LMR Radio,
  • Server infrastructure and VMWare,
  • Control and Automation systems: Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), SCADA, IEC-61850,
  • Power utility specialized telecom system: Tele-protection, Power Line Carrier (PLC), High Voltage Entrance (HVE),
  • IT/OT convergence
