About The Role

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of a technical nature. The role includes handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples and substances, by conducting tests.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be responsible for
  • Communicating affectively
    • Safety Concerns
    • Operational parameters
    • Daily Laboratory Reports
  • Inventory and orders laboratory equipment and supplies, process all necessary paperwork and maintain appropriate records
  • Laboratory Operations
    • Prepare laboratory reagents and supplies as needed.
    • Maintain a good house keeping standard within the laboratory.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment faults are identified and effectively liaise with the Supervisor to correct the issues
  • Assist with developing and maintaining operating procedures, review them at least quarterly and make revisions
    • Maximize laboratory productivity, quality, and safety
    • Minimize contamination/cross-contamination
  • Assist in projects as assigned by the superintendent Laboratory
  • Complete all tasks with an emphasis on continual improvement
  • Conduct experiments under defined conditions
  • Performs special projects as needed or assigned, such as helping the HSE team
What You’ll Bring
  • Diploma in biology, biomedical science, microbiology
  • Laboratory is needed, PCR knowledge is preferred
  • Reliable, with high integrity and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team
Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the DDMI Participation Agreement Groups and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Territories.
