In 1990, founding Partners Graeme Clark and Richard Horner opened a boutique firm located in downtown Toronto with a goal of providing practical solutions to complex taxation matters and where premium service is standard for all. The firm’s core clientele at its inception consisted mostly of professional athletes and high-net worth individuals. The firm’s reputation for attentive and personal service is what allowed it to grow to the size it is today and expand our practice further into assurance, family office services, business advisory and scientific research and experimental development client service lines.
The Role of a Manager would involve the following:
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, hard-working individual who is passionate about what they do. Additional qualifications include:
· 4-6 years of experience
· CPA designation with a strong interest in both audit and taxation.
· Have a keen interest in pursuing a career in tax and be open to taking further courses, such as In Depth or TEP
· Review notice to reader files, corporate tax returns (T2), trust returns (T3) and personal tax returns (T1)
· Assist Junior staff members by providing any guidance required for preparing working papers, T1, T2 and T3 tax returns
· Assist with tax research and be involved in various tax planning strategies
· Develop strong relationships with clients and co-workers
· Candidate must be comfortable in a technology dependent environment including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Caseware and Tax Prep. Proficiency with Simply Accounting, and QuickBooks is an asset.
· Skilled in communication (verbal and written), organization skills, client service, questioning and listening, time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
Looking for a candidate with these abilities in audit:
· Knowledge with ASPE/IFRS ability to identify and solve complex accounting issues (with a focus on private clients and not-for-profits).
· Experience managing audit teams.
· Willingness to train staff on audit approach, technical knowledge.
· Audit/Taxation Split approx. 40/60
