We are seeking a talented Systems Engineering Co-op to join the Schneider Electric Solar + Storage team.

Our team is focused on designing the next generation of electro-mechanical solutions to serve prosumers in their residential storage and solar needs. The successful Systems Engineering Coop will join our R&D team in our Richmond, BC location to collaboratively bring high quality and innovative designs from concept to customer.

We are looking for a positive, self-motivated, passionate person with a strong desire to work in an exciting, fast-paced, team-based design environment to help us develop next generation technologies to empower and connect our products to each other, and to our customers.

What will you do?
  • Support development of functional requirements and features, translating them into technical requirements that can be referenced by multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Within a collaborative team, you will create system designs, perform functional and feasibility analysis, and define systems architecture, interfaces, and specifications
  • Validate software against requirements using PV inverters, ESS, and other energy management equipment in an R&D lab setting while providing necessary resolutions through troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Produce standard systems documentation in Confluence and JIRA: product requirements, functional specification, DVT plan, DFMEA, system test & qualification plans
  • Support system analysis activities employing basic mathematical models for mechatronic systems and software simulation such as MatLab, Simulink, and software development environments for embedded applications

What qualifications will make you successful?
  • Working towards an undergraduate degree in Mechatronics/Electrical/Engineering Physics/Computer Engineering/Control Systems (2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students)
  • Demonstrated systematic approach to testing execution, troubleshooting, and problem solving with familiarity debugging complex systems
  • Exposure to electrical hardware, software, and electrical circuit theory as it relates to embedded controls for electro-mechanical systems
  • Foundational ability to apply system methodologies to design and be able to develop cascading requirement scenarios is an asset
